OVERVIEW
Since crossing over the border from the Sydney Swans last year, Dick managed to play six senior games for the Blues.
He made his debut in Round 4 v St Kilda in New Zealand, playing in the Blues’ first win of the season.
The young defender also played 11 games for the Northern Blues and on three occasions was included in their best on ground.
After playing some consistent games in the back half of the season, Dick will take some good form and momentum into 2016.
HE SAID IT
“It's very exciting – this Club's got a great history and hopefully I do get the chance to play, it would mean a lot. I've (just) got to get my body in shape and avoid injuries to give myself the best chance to play.
- Matt Dick talking about his football goals during the Blues' pre-season.
THEY SAID IT
“Matt played as a defender at VFL for the first half of the year before he got his opportunity in the AFL side. It took him a little while to find his feet but we saw some really positive signs in the last couple of games in the year. Matt’s a really honest hard-working player and a quality person who had had a really positive impact. Coming from the Sydney footy club and the culture that goes with that, he was really good with the rest of our academy boys in terms of the things he was able to teach them.”
- Carlton’s development coach Mathew Capuano reflecting on Dick’s 2015 performance.
SEASON HIGHLIGHT
In the Northern Blues' disappointing loss to Footscray in Round 12, Matthew Dick was a clear best for the Blues. He collected 34 disposals through the midfield and off halfback, providing a shining light in a tough game at Whitten Oval.
