Over the course of the 2015 AFL Trade Period, we’ll count down Carlton’s top-10 trades over the past 30 years.
Which stars reinvigorated their careers donning the Navy Blue? And who made Carlton their second home?
Coming in at No.2: Chris Judd
The Trade: In 2007 Chris Judd and draft selection 46 (Dennis Armfield) were traded to Carlton by West Coast for key-position forward Josh Kennedy, draft selection 3 (Chris Masten) and draft selection 20 (Tony Notte).

At the end of 2007 (October 11 to be exact), Blues fans rejoiced when Chris Judd announced he was going to call Princes Park home.
The trade attracted a huge amount of media speculation at the time, with four clubs vying to secure the signature of the Brownlow medallist and 2006 premiership player.
Those Victorian teams were Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon and Melbourne.
In his recently released book, ‘Inside: Chris Judd’, the six-time All-Australian says there was a lot of “umming and ahh-ing”, but in the end there was only one club he wanted to join: the Old Dark Navy Blues.
Meet Juddy on his book tour
After the trade had been completed, Carlton’s then CEO Greg Swann said it was “one of the most important days” at the football club.

"Chris Judd is the premier player in the competition and will be a major boost to Carlton as the club embarks on what is a new and exciting era,” Swann said at the press conference.
When ‘Juddy’ arrived at Princes Park he was so highly regarded, the No. 5 was made captain in his first year. He held that role for four years before passing the reins over to Marc Murphy in 2012.
Judd’s decorated career continued at the Blues, as the midfielder collected three consecutive John Nicholls Medals in 2008, 2009 and 2010, as well as being named in the All-Australia side four years running (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011).
In 2010 the explosive midfielder won his second Brownlow medal, confirming his status as a champion of the game, and a great at Carlton.

After eight seasons with the Blues Judd finished his career having played 145 games for Carlton – 11 more than his total at the Eagles (134).
Chris Judd’s legacy will continue to live on at the Blues, with the Chris Judd Development Academy Award being presented to a young player who has shown the most growth on and off the field each year.
