OVERVIEW
After missing the first two games of the season, Dennis Armfield played 12 matches for the Blues in 2015. However, like many players at Carlton, the versatile on-baller succumbed to injury in the latter part of the year.

Before breaking his arm in Round 15 against the Tigers, Armfield played some consistent footy, kicking two goals per game in four consecutive games between Rounds 10 and 14.

The speedster won a host of accolades along the 2015 journey. In Round 13 he was nominated for the AFL’s Goal of the Year after using his pace to weave through traffic against the Suns and boot a goal on the run.

On Brownlow night Armfield was presented with the Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award for his work with Odyssey House Victoria, a provider of drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Armfield is an ambassador for the service and says he wants to “change the stigma associated with drug and alcohol addiction”.

Meanwhile Armfield, a favourite of the Triple M football team, was also named captain of the 2015 Triple M All Stars Team.

HE SAID IT
“It’s been a bit of a hectic year but we showed some good signs against Adelaide and hopefully we can finish off the second half of the year a lot better.

“It’s crucial we continue that (competitiveness) after the bye against Port Adelaide this week. It’s about pressure acts, chases – more the defensive side of things … and if I can get on the end of a couple of goals that’s good.”
