A scintillating performance from Adam Treloar has inspired Greater Western Sydney to a dominant win against Carlton at Spotless Stadium on Saturday.
Treloar, who is out of contract at the end of the season, showed just why the Giants and a host of rival clubs are clamouring for his signature, as GWS notched its 11th win of the season.
With key forward Jeremy Cameron (seven goals, 12 marks) in complete command in attack, the Giants powered away after an even first half to win 20.12 (132) to 7.9 (51).
Pre-match, Giants CEO Dave Matthews said the club hadn’t given up hope of retaining Treloar, and the emerging star showed exactly why he is such hot property.
The midfield jet repeatedly scythed through the Carlton midfield to collect 27 touches, six tackles, three goals, six clearances, five inside 50s and a disposal efficiency rate of 85 per cent.
Neither team could gain a clear ascendancy in the first half, with the visitors narrowly edging ahead in the first term before GWS fought back to claim a slender lead at the long break.
But the Giants put the foot down in the third term, booting eight goals to one as their midfield and forward line started to work the Blues over.
It wasn't all smiles for the Giants though, who suffered a blow during the third quarter when Ryan Griffen injured his right knee during a tackle.
The former Bulldog was subbed out of the game, as was Carlton's David Ellard (concussion).
Rising Star contender Patrick Cripps accumulated a team-high 29 touches for the Blues, who didn't have anyone who scored more than one goal.
