In a bid to raise awareness of prostate cancer in Australian men, arch rivals Carlton and Collingwood will battle it out at the MCG for the Richard Pratt Cup.
Named in honour of former Carlton President, Richard Pratt, who lost his life to Prostate Cancer in 2009, more than 15,000 blue ponchos will be given out to fans on game day to signify the impact of this disease.
The sold out match will also see former Carlton premiership coach and prostate cancer survivor, David Parkin, lead a contingent of 50 fans, celebrities and prostate cancer survivors on field to form a guard of honour pre-game.
All money raised through the Richard Pratt Cup will go to the Richard Pratt Fellowships in Prostate Cancer, an initiative that provides fellowships to researchers aiming to identify significantly improved treatment for sufferers of prostate cancer.
Each year the Fellowship will commit $100,000 to individual applicants who are conducting translational research in prostate cancer.
