Carlton returns to the home of football this weekend with the Blues set to take on the Crows on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking on Adelaide radio station FIVEaa ahead of the match Carlton defender Kade Simpson said he’s looking forward to being back at the MCG.
“As much as this weekend you might like the roof with Melbourne’s weather, it’s good to get back out on the ‘G," Simpson said.
“It’s the best surface in Australia and you always look forward to it and rise to the occasion."
Carlton has three big stars back for the clash, captain Marc Murphy, dual Brownlow medallist Chris Judd and big man Matthew Kreuzer.
Kreuzer hasn’t played a senior game since injuring his foot in round one last year, but after getting through three VFL games with the Northern Blues he’s ready to line up against the Crows.
Simpson said the boys are “thrilled” to have big "Kreuz" back in the side.
“He is an absolute ripper – he's a quiet sort of a bloke but very genuine and works hard," Simpson said.
“It will be quite a big thrill for the boys to have him back out there because you know what you’re going to get – a fair dinkum crack."
The match will also see former Blue Eddie Betts play against his old side for the second time. Simpson joked about his “great mate’s” behaviour over the long break.
“I know he was in contact with some of the boys over summer, sending the boys photos of his six pack saying he’s in career-best nick,” Simpson laughed.
“It’s great to see him going well because he is a great mate and I know how hard he works so it’s great to see him having such a great year.”
In their last battle with the Crows Betts kicked four goals, but Simpson starred racking up 37 disposals and kicking a goal.
“Hopefully it (my form) continues that way and we get the four points on the weekend,” he said.
