Arch-rivals Carlton and Collingwood will go head to head for the 250th time when they meet at the MCG tonight.
Blues’ fans will be proud to know Carlton narrowly holds the ledger – 125 wins to Collingwood’s 120. There has also been four draws. So who will win the 250th?
Both sides are coming off ANZAC Day wins, with the Blues beating St Kilda in Wellington and Collingwood dismantling Essendon at the MCG.
The game will see Carlton coach Michael Malthouse break Magpie legend Jock McHale’s coaching record, when he coaches his 715th match.
Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley, who played under Malthouse at the Pies, thanked his former coach during the week.
"The accolades have duly come his way. It's clearly a significant milestone. I am happy to say thank you in that regard because I am hoping not to give him a present this weekend," he said.
Collingwood is well aware the Blues want to win for their coach and Buckley is preparing for the intensity to be “through the roof”.
Brownlow medallist Dane Swan was in doubt to play after injuring his ankle in Collingwood's ANZAC day clash with Essendon, but the star midfielder has been named in the team.
Carlton's dual Brownlow medalist Chris Judd, who missed last week due to back soreness, returns to the side, while youngsters Kristian Jaksch and Mark Whiley have also been named.
Andrew Carrazzo is out due to injury, while Levi Casboult and Matthew Dick have been omitted.
The last time these two teams played was Round 15 at the MCG last year, with nearly 41,000 fans turning out. It was a close game, but in the end Collingwood won by 15 points: 13.13.91 to 11.10.76.
