Carlton has secured pick eight in the 2015 AFL National Draft, along with four new Blues, after finalising a trade with Greater Western Sydney.
Along with an additional first-round draft pick, Carlton welcomes former Giants Andrew Phillips, Liam Sumner, Lachie Plowman and Jed Lamb to its list.
In exchange the Blues have traded the rights to Geelong’s 2016 first-round draft pick, along with pick 28 (received from the Crows along with Sam Kerridge in exchange for Troy Menzel), as well as picks 77 and 95.
The future pick was acquired in exchange for Lachie Henderson, which has now netted Carlton another valuable top 10 selection.
Carlton’s General Manager of List Management and Strategy Stephen Silvagni says the move fits the Club’s requirements.
“Trading Lachie for a future pick afforded us some flexibility. By on-trading the rights to it we’ve now cemented another valuable selection inside the top 10 of this year’s draft,” Silvagni said.
“We always wanted a first round pick for Lachie and this new deal guarantees our return. In essence, we have secured pick eight for him.
“In addition, we’ve secured four young men with great potential. Among them are three former first round draft picks, each with the benefit of having some AFL experience under their belt.
“Bringing in four young players, all hungry for opportunity, is in line with our strategy. I have no doubt these players will develop and grow under new coach Brendon Bolton.”
Carlton’s new additions include:
- Defender Lachie Plowman who was recruited with the No. 3 draft pick in the 2012 National Draft. He has played 20 AFL games.
