OVERVIEW
Brock McLean's 2014 season didn't get off to a fantastic start.
The 28-year-old was omitted after the Blues loss to Richmond in Round 2, when he was substituted off in the third quarter.
However after impressing in the Northern Blues, McLean re-joined the seniors and his on-field performance began improving.
In Carlton's final game of the season, the No.14 was at his best notching 30 disposals and kicking one goal.
Off-field McLean continued his campaigning as a gay rights ambassador.
HE SAID IT
"Days like today and the Pride Cup… you can't really put into words what it means for one, the gay community, and two, just for that message of acceptance in sport. It's one thing for a gay person to stand up for gay rights but it holds so much more weight and power when a straight person stands up for gay rights."
- Brock McLean speaking at the 2014 Pride Cup.
THEY SAID IT
“For Brock to come here and play and do what he's done, is, I think, a great effort. He had a lean patch there for 18 months where he wasn't getting a game, but he never spat the dummy - he just kept working away and all credit to him. Fantastic."
- Brock's father, Mick McLean, speaking about Brock playing his 50th game for the Blues.
