As the holiday season gets underway, the Carlton Football Club is embracing the season of giving – to thank the members who have signed on for 2016.
On Tuesday afternoon, fresh off the training track, Marc Murphy headed into the Carlton Shop to sign autographs and take photos with Blues fans to coincide with the launch of Carlton’s 12 Days of Giveaways – commencing Monday 14 December.
“The Christmas spirit is in the air and it’s good to see a lot of supporters here – hopefully they turn into members and pick up some Carlton goodies before Christmas,” Murphy said.
“We’ve already broken the record for December 1, we got 25,000 members which was great and we’re trying to aim for 30,000 by the New Year.”
Carlton players hit the phones after their skills session on Tuesday, to personally thank the Carlton members who have already jumped on board for next season.
“All the boys are upstairs calling members saying thanks for joining on for next year and it’s a really exciting time going forward.”
The entire team heads to the Gold Coast next week for pre-season camp, and ‘Murph’ is looking forward to building strong relationships with all the new players and coaches.
The midfielder also echoed the thoughts of his teammates, praising Bolton and his assistant coaches for creating a positive learning environment.
As one of the more experienced players on the list, Murph admits he is still learning and developing his game.
“We’re a young group and I think even myself being 28 and I think ‘Simmo’ (Kade Simpson) being 31, we’re just learning day to day new ways of looking at football.
“It’s been exciting and a real fresh approach – I’ve been loving it.”
