Defender Zach Tuohy says Carlton is a “good place to be” as the new coaching staff create a complete learning environment.
Tuohy told SEN on Monday the changes at the Blues have been incredibly refreshing.
“It’s really different – it’s definitely the biggest change I’ve experienced in six or seven years,” Tuohy said.
With 15 new players, as well as a host of new coaches, the entire playing group has been learning new drills and different terminology.
“I guess the schedule has changed because it’s so thorough due to all the new information we’ve been trying to take on board,” Tuohy said.
“We’ve got so many new coaches bringing in their new style and there’s a lot of learning – there’s far more learning than I had early in my career, so it’s a pretty good place to be.”
The Irishman, who celebrates his 26th birthday on Thursday, says coach Brendon Bolton speaks “very passionately” about football, which is incredibly inspiring.
“He loves to teach and you can tell when he addresses the team as a whole just how much it means to him, not to say that that wasn’t the same for guys in the past, but it is really nice to see a first-time senior coach have that fresh attitude towards footy,” Tuohy said.
When asked if ‘Bolts’ ever gets snarly, Tuohy cheekily replied: “Well we haven’t lost yet, so I’m not quite sure!”
“We haven’t seen him give out too many sprays yet, but I’m sure he’s got them ready.”
The entire Carlton playing list will head to the Gold Coast next week for a pre-season training camp.
