Northern Blues coach Josh Fraser and Carlton runner Matthew Pell may be used to coaching from the sidelines, but last weekend the duo pulled on their footy boots for Tatyoon in the Miniera and District Football League.

Fraser, who took over the senior coaching role at Northern towards the end of last year, played up forward and kicked a whopping seven goals in the team’s 18-point victory over reigning premier Lismore-Derrinallum.

After booting one goal in the first quarter, Fraser then bagged six in the second term in his debut performance for Tatyoon.

Meanwhile teammate and colleague Matthew Pell played on the wing and rotated through the midfield, with his efforts around the ground earning him a spot in the best players.

Fraser played 218 AFL games for Collingwood, after being selected at pick No.1 in the 1999 national draft, while Pell played 10 years ago with the then Northern Bullants.

The pair is hoping to play a few more games if their schedules allow it.
