Mikaela Whitton calls herself a “premiership baby”.
Born three weeks before the Blues won their sixteenth flag in ’95, the 20-year-old says although she can’t recollect the victory, she knows it was a “special time” in Carlton’s history.
“I was born in 1995, so I’m a premiership baby,” Mikaela said.
“I don’t remember it (the premiership) of course, but that was pretty special – I was three weeks old!” she laughed.
Since signing up as a member for the first time last year, the Tasmanian-born Bluebagger says she’ll be a member for life, noting Carlton is her “absolute world”.
“I’ve been barracking for the Club for 20 years, ever since I was born, so I thought it would be a good chance to have a look at the membership packages Carlton offer,” Mikaela said.
“I live in Hobart so I got an interstate membership.”
Mikaela, whose family is all “Carlton mad”, says she can’t wait to travel to Launceston in Round 19 to watch the Blues take on the Hawks at Aurora Stadium.
“I’m looking forward to July – I’m very excited,” she said.
“I’m going up to Launceston to see the game and I can’t wait.”
Although Mikaela finds it hard to get to live games in Melbourne, she managed to attend Chris Judd’s farewell match at the MCG last year – a day she’ll never forget.
“It’s a little bit tricky (getting to Melbourne) with work but I got over there for the win against Melbourne last year and that was Juddy’s lap of honour,” she said.
“I did cry when Juddy did his lap of honour – it was very emotional to see him retire.”
Mikaela, who is studying to be a flight attendant, admires Chris Judd so much she has posters of the champ on her wall, and even attended his testimonial dinner and the Blues’ best and fairest.

Luckily for Mikaela she is making the move to Melbourne later this year, so she’ll be able to see her beloved Blues in action and attend Carlton events much more often.
“I’m looking forward to getting to more games – it will be nice!” she exclaimed.
“I just love the atmosphere, there’s no better feeling than watching Carlton play at the MCG.
“I just love the rivalry and seeing all the supporters together – there’s just no better game than AFL.”
Mikaela was born in the same year as her favourite player Patrick Cripps.
