Green Game means time to give a toss
Find out how you can join Carlton Captain and Visy environmental ambassador Chris Judd to toss the coin on Saturday
Blues supporters fronting up to “The G” on matchday will be invited to make their own pledge at the various Visy locations outside the MCG. Six lucky fans will then be selected to “kick goals for the environment” on the ground - with the winner of the comp afforded the rare chance of joining Carlton Captain and Visy environmental ambassador Chris Judd to toss the coin in the lead-up to the first bounce.
For Carlton and its sustainability partner Visy, World Environment Day is the culmination of a week of sustained promotional activities acknowledging this landmark event, which is acknowledged in more than 100 nations, Australia included.
The week began with the launch of Judd’s video pledge for a better world. The video, which also features Carlton President Stephen Kernahan, Coach Brett Ratten and a number of Carlton senior players and celebrities, together with Visy Executive Chairman Anthony Pratt - will screen on the MCG’s scoreboard during the Green Game.
Thursday saw more than 50 primary school students converge on Visy Park as part of the innovate schools program developed by Carlton and Visy, with Judd and fellow Carlton Environment ambassadors involved in the Visy Enviromaniacs Live @ CFC. The aim of the Visy Enviromaniacs Live @ CFC was to demonstrate how primary school students can leave a positive environmental footprint through increased awareness of recycling, water management and energy saving, and will see over 3000 students take part in the program throughout 2010.
