Not so long ago it was the quintessential male-only pie night. But League footy has come a long way - a case in point the much-anticipated 2011 Dinner with the Boys, recently convened by the club’s ever-growing Women of Carlton supporter group.

Staged within the swish surrounds of Etihad Stadium’s Laurette Room, 165 WoC members and their guests rubbed shoulders with the likes of current Carlton players Jarrad Waite and Shaun Hampson, together with Marcus Davies, Pat McCarthy and Luke Mitchell. The club’s former premiership full-back Geoff Southby, were also in the house.

Sam Lane and Andy Maher shared MC duties, and guests were treated to a Q and A panel, at which “Waitey’s” life was the subject of animated discussion involving his mother Christine Waite, fiancée Jackie Spong and prospective mother-in-law Kerryn Spong.

Hampson, McCarthy, Mitchell and Davies were also willing participants in “Celebrity Head”, with Hampson, Oscar Judd, Shane Warne and Lady Gaga the alter egos, in a lighter moment of one of the more eagerly-anticipated events on the Women of Carlton calendar.
