Designed for Carlton Primary School students, the High Rise Program aims to empower young people in the local area through positive role modelling.
Carlton Primary School's Community Learning Co-ordinator Bec Harris says the school has benefited greatly from this initiative, which is continuing to evolve.
"Carlton Primary School has been involved in the program for a number of years," Ms Harris said.
“It has expanded to include an after-school Auskick program, which has been a fantastic opportunity for the kids to get involved with free after school sport that they love."
Victoria Police Community Liaison Officer Nick Parissis says Carlton's High Rise Program has also allowed the students to develop a wide range of skills.
"The students at Carlton Primary School have seen more than their football skills improve as a result of participating in this program,” Officer Parissis said.
"It teaches kids about healthy living, positive behaviour, team work and also about building friendships.
"It also gives these kids the opportunity to do things that they wouldn't normally get the opportunity to do."
