Carlton FC Multicultural Ambassador, Setanta O’hAilpin last night visited one of the most unique football clubs in Australia; the Southern Dragons.

The Dragons are a team in the Southern Football League made up of a range of nationalities.

“Players have come from all over the world- Vietnam, China, India, Cambodia, Japan, Israel, Pakistan, Macedonia, Sri Lanka and Thailand to name a few. Even though many of them are new to the game the commitment and passion to AFL is extraordinary” said senior coach Tom Cochill.

Setanta O’hAilpin, himself of multicultural decent (Irish Father and Samoan/Fijian mother) hit it off immediately with the group, providing his expertise in ruck work and forward line tactics.

“Coming from a non AFL background myself I know exactly how you guys feel and reaching finals again this year you should all be proud. Make sure you all have a crack for your team mates, country and heritage” said O’hAilpin.

The training session was the last before the Dragons head into the elimination final this Sunday.

Dragons President Tri Thoi is hoping for some Irish luck going into finals.
