As well as viewing the world-class facilities the teams have also enjoyed the opportunity to have a training session on the ground at Visy Park. The Canadian Mens and Ladies teams visited Visy Park on Tuesday in between games and the ladies team had their final selection meeting in the Don Chipp Theatre as they prepared for the next day’s match.
Other teams to visit Visy Park included USA, South Africa, Peace Team and Ireland. Representatives of all competing nations have also been to Visy Park to attend the coaching courses and presentations by the AFL during the International Cup.
This if the fourth International Cup and this year 18 men’s and five women’s teams are competing. Expatriate Australians are ineligible to play in the International Cup. Teams are comprised solely of amateurs who must be nationals of the country they represent. All players must have lived the majority of the years aged between 10 and 16 as a citizen of their nation.
