On 21 March 2013, World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) will be officially observed by the United Nations for the second year in a row.
On its 8th anniversary, World Down Syndrome Day will see people across the world celebrating the lives and achievements of people with Down syndrome.
The Carlton Football Club, in conjunction with Down Syndrome Victoria, views this day is an opportunity to recognise the importance of inclusion and diversity and how positively these values can impact our workplace, home life and our communities.
During the months of March and April, individuals, organisations and schools across Victoria will celebrate World Down Syndrome Day in their community by hosting a T4321 morning or afternoon tea to raise funds and awareness for Down Syndrome.
Last year, 25 hosts (individuals, organisations, schools, early intervention and disability service providers) took part in the T4321 event, raising over $15,000. These proceeds were used to fund services, programs and training for people with Down syndrome and their families. Many events received media coverage and some were even attended by local politicians. Of them, Tallarook Primary School took the top fundraising prize and were thrilled to have a footy clinic at Visy Park hosted by Jeremy Laidler and Simon White.
To celebrate and support this event in 2013, the Carlton Football Club is again giving primary schools the opportunity to win a football clinic at Visy Park. All your school has to do is register your event with Down Syndrome Victoria and start fundraising! Click here for details.
