Carlton fans at today’s game against Melbourne showed their support for this week’s community match day partner, Odyssey House Victoria.

Indeed supporters of both teams were happy to make a donation to the volunteers shaking tins around the MCG knowing the money was going to an important community organisation.

As one of Australia’s leading drug and alcohol treatment, training and support organisations, Odyssey House provides opportunities for change and growth by reducing drug use, improving mental health and reconnecting people to their family and the community.

“It’s a great to see the Club getting involved with the community and helping to make a difference,” said Carlton member Margaret on her way into the game.

“It certainly makes me proud of my club to know we are working with the community and assisting organisations like Odyssey House,” added Margaret.

While busy on the ground helping the Blues in the round nine match against Melbourne, Carlton Community Ambassador Ed Curnow knows how important this support is as he appreciates the organisation is in need of valuable support from the community.

“Odyssey House Victoria has a great reputation of helping people ‘kick the habit’ and overcome problems with alcohol and other drug addiction through residential rehabilitation and community based treatment programs, but they need your help,” Ed said earlier in the week.

“They also work with several community schools and junior football and netball clubs across Victoria, helping young people gain the skills and knowledge to make more responsible and healthier choices.”

To all the supporters who made a donation outside the MCG today and to the volunteers who gave up their time to assist this important fundraising and awareness campaign we say thank you.

The support for Odyssey House Victoria is part of Carlton’s match day community partnerships in 2012 which includes the Richard Pratt Cup which was played for in April and of course the Peter Mac Cup which will be played for in round 15, on Friday July 6, the Carlton away game against Collingwood at the MCG.
