It’s a melding of cultures that promotes true inclusiveness in our national game – and it’s the brainchild of Shanaaz Copeland.
Ms Copeland is the creative mind behind Unity Sports Wrap, an online retailer which stocks hijabs in AFL team colours.
The devout Muslim says she came up with the concept after her daughters were having trouble deciding what to wear to a “footy day" at school.
"All the students were planning on wearing their footy colours," Ms Copeland said.
"So as my daughters are all Carlton supporters, I created navy blue and white coloured headscarfs so that they could feel more included amongst their classmates."
With the assistance of the AFL, Ms Copeland obtained a licence which enables her to sell her scarves in all 18 AFL club colours.
Without the support she's received, the mother of four daughters said it would have been difficult to get her business up and running.
"The AFL has been so amazing and supportive to me," Ms Copeland said.
"All in all, it has been such an incredible journey."
Ms Copeland and her four daughters will attend tonight's clash between Carlton and North Melbourne at Etihad Stadium, which will be the very first time they have all attended an AFL game.
"The girls are so excited," Ms Copeland said. "I will be praying that Carlton will win."
