Despite being ravaged by injuries, assistant coach Scott Gowans believes the Blues will shine in the final game on Sunday afternoon.

“We were challenged physically and mentally with the trip away last week but the girls just bounce back and I love that” Gowans said.

“We were so disappointed with our tackle count and pressure points against Fremantle. If nothing else we’ll come out and play really hard on Sunday.”

Injuries have been a huge setback for the Game Changers, with the team’s defensive stocks thinning as the weeks go by. Gowans says this has been tough for the team, but he has been astounded by the girls’ resilience.

“My perspective is that injuries have hurt us a fair bit, but the resilience in the team is really really good,” he said.

“Even if you think back to the Collingwood game, there was pressure of that crowd and to perform and even though we won that’s a form of resilience. I’d say that our resilience has been one of the special things I’ll take out of this program.”

All eyes are now on Sunday at Ikon Park where Carlton will play their final game of the AFLW season. While Brisbane will be looking to continue their unbeaten run, our girls will be out to finish the season off strongly.

“They’re an amazing side Brisbane. They’re very well structured and they have a lot depth that allows them to do a lot of unique things around stoppages and on the park that work really well,” he said.

The Game Changers are also undefeated at Ikon Park and will hope to keep that record in tact when they face the Lions later today.
