CARLTON'S first VFL Women’s team has been announced ahead of Saturday’s season opener against the Southern Saints.
As many as 10 Carlton AFLW-listed players will make the trip to Frankston Oval on Saturday morning.
Darcy Vescio will lead the squad up forward, while Maddison Gay, Sarah Hosking and Gabriella Pound feature in the middle.
Also included are Bridie Kennedy, Madeline Keryk, Sophie Li, Tilly Lucas-Rodd, Breann Moody and Natalie Plane.
Moody will be joined by twin sister Celine, who is named at centre-half-forward for the Blues.
Former Northern Knight Bailey Schultz has been named as 23rd player.
She’s joined by fellow VFLW-listed youngsters Courteney Bromage, Jorja Borg (both 19 years old), Tess Plowman and Olivia Vesely (both 18) in the side.
It’ll be the first game in the revamped VFLW league, with both the Blues and Saints representing two of 10 new teams in the competition.
The game kicks off at 11:15am, with entry free up until half-time.
It will act as the first game of a double header, with the Northern Blues’ Round 5 VFL fixture against Frankston to follow at 2:10pm.
