NEW Blue Will Setterfield says he's keen to build something special with his new teammates at Carlton.
Setterfield, who joined the Blues from Greater Western Sydney on Friday, said he saw an exciting future for the developing list as he looks to put an injury-interrupted start to his burgeoning career behind him.
“I’m very excited to be a Blue. It was a long week and I’m glad it (trade) was done. I’m just excited to get started and meet all of the boys and get into it,” Setterfield said.
“I’m only two years into my career so it’s good be a part of the group and a part of its future. I’m looking forward to building something with the boys.
“Carlton appealed to me being a big four club that plays on the MCG as its home ground. It’s obviously quite a young list so it suits me, and it has an exciting future ahead.”

The Blues were delighted to finally land Setterfield, with their bid for the former Giants academy player in the 2016 national draft (pick No.5) swiftly matched by GWS.
The classy midfielder now becomes the seventh player on Carlton's list from that draft, linking up with a number of former GWS teammates including Matthew Kennedy, whom he played alongside in his only two AFL games.
“I knew Matt Kennedy pretty well in my first year at the Giants," Setterfield said.
"I’m looking forward to getting to know him again. I could potentially be living with him so that could be really exciting."
The 191cm former Caulfield Grammar student, who joins Mitch McGovern (Adelaide) and Alex Fasolo (Collingwood) as the Blues' newest arrivals, said he hoped to use his height to help strengthen Carlton’s engine room.
“I’m hoping to bring a tall midfielder to the group," he said.
"I’m looking forward to working with ‘Crippa’ (Patrick Cripps), and learning from the likes of him and (Marc) Murphy will be great."
While Setterfield’s unfortunate ACL rupture in a pre-season match in February had left him bereft of big-stage experience at GWS, he said his recovery was on track.
He said the addition of former Hawthorn High Performance Manager Andrew Russell was further reason to give him confidence.
“I’m very excited Andrew Russell is going to be a part of the high-performance team. I’m really looking forward to working with him," Setterfield said.
"After looking at what he’s done with (Jaeger) O’Meara and (Shaun) Burgoyne, it’s going to be helpful with my knee and the injuries I’ve had.
“All of the rehabilitation is going really well. I’m about seven or eight months in. I’m coming out the better end of it now, and there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”
