IN a dominant display at Bill Lawry Oval on Sunday, Carlton’s VFLW team defeated Darebin and knocked it out of finals contention.
The Blues’ younger players stood up in wet and windy conditions, while four individual goalkickers – Celine Moody, Darcy Vescio, Georgia Gee and Bailey Schultz – helped Carlton record a 25-point win.

Alison Downie
Stats: 13 disposals, 5 tackles
From the coach: Rucked for most of the day and gave our onballers first use of the football. Al also spent time in the forward line and took a number of important marks in wet conditions. Al’s work rate was strong defensively and she managed to limit her opponent in every quarter.
Georgia Gee
Stats: 1 goal, 16 tackles
From the coach: Georgia is finding real consistency in her game. Spending time on the ball and forward, she was a huge contributor to our victory on the weekend. She made a big impact at the stoppages in wet conditions and was able to contribute on the scoreboard.
Gab Pound
Stats: 24 disposals, 18 kicks
From the coach: Gab made a really positive contribution to the midfield and worked hard defensively. Her skills throughout the game in wet conditions were fantastic, while her work across the ground and run and carry off half-back were invaluable.
Tilly Lucas-Rodd
Stats: 12 disposals, 8 kicks
From the coach: Tilly spent most of the game on the half-forward flank and then moved down back when needed. A spirited game from Tilly, she was relentless in the forward line and set up across the half-forward line to create a number of inside 50s. Her offensive running was also a really positive sign.
Darcy Vescio
Stats: 9 disposals, 1 goal
From the coach: In wet and muddy conditions, Darcy worked hard up forward. Her strong leads and contested marking were great. Darcy’s leadership in the forward line was vital in Sunday’s win and she was rewarded with a goal.
