CARLTON Football Club has finalised its coaching structure for 2019, with Hamish McIntosh being appointed to the position of ruck coach.
The former AFL ruckman, who played a combined 126 games for North Melbourne and Geelong, arrives at Ikon Park with extensive experience working with emerging young rucks.
Initially recruited to the Kangaroos with pick No.9 overall in the 2002 national draft, the 34-year-old played a pivotal role mentoring his younger teammates both at North and Geelong and aided the development of the clubs’ ruck stocks.

While he was still playing, McIntosh spent two years at the Northern Knights coaching its under-16 ruck division and held the position of ruck coach for Vic Metro’s under-16s.
His ability to develop young talent also saw McIntosh spend four years as a Dynamic Footy Skills ambassador, helping children aged 11 to 15 improve their football skills.

Head of Football Brad Lloyd said he was delighted to welcome McIntosh to the Blues’ coaching panel for 2019.
“As a former AFL ruckman who has only recently left the game, we believe Hamish has valuable experience and knowledge that will aid the development of our emerging rucks, so we’re thrilled to have him on board,” Lloyd said.
“He’ll work closely with Tom De Koning and even Harry McKay and Levi Casboult who can pinch-hit in the ruck, as well as our more experienced ruckmen in Matthew Kreuzer, Matthew Lobbe and Andrew Phillips.
“Throughout his career at North and Geelong he was passionate about developing the budding talent around him, which also saw him take up roles at the Northern Knights and Vic Metro while he was still playing AFL.
“Hamish’s appointment finalises our coaching structure for next season, as we look to further enhance stability and continuity between the coaches and players.
“As we move into the next phase of our development, it’s important we build on those strong relationships that have been formed over the last three years.”
