CARLTON AFLW star Jess Hosking is proud to have been acknowledged for her community work with a nomination for the 2019 Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award.
Hosking was announced as one of the four finalists for the award last week alongside Geelong's Jamaine Jones, GWS Giants' Stephen Coniglio and Port Adelaide's Travis Boak.
She was nominated for her expansive work across a number of charities, including Interplast Australia, CleftPALS Victoria, Red Dust and her own charity, 2 Boots.
She spoke to SEN in the lead-up to the award being presented tonight at the 2019 Brownlow Medal.
“The Jim Stynes Community Leadership Award - people are nominated for it for the work that they do within the community,” Hosking said.
“I’m very lucky with football that it’s given me the platform that I can help out some of these charities, so I try to give back as much as I can,” she said.

As part of her ongoing commitment to Interplast, Hosking will be running the New York Marathon alongside twin sister Sarah Hosking this November.
The AFLW star duo will be tackling the 42 kilometres in the hopes of raising money for the organisation.
“I do a bit of work for a few different charities and one of them is Interplast, which is a medical group formed together from Australia and New Zealand,” she said.
“They send medical groups over to countries across the Asia Pacific and they perform life-saving and life-changing surgery.
“Me and my sister Sarah will be going over to New York and running the New York Marathon to raise money for Interplast.”
Anticipating the challenge ahead, Hosking is hopeful only to finish ahead of her twin sister in at the finish line.
“I think we’ve kind of said to each other that we just want to finish it,” she said.
“We don’t want to push ourselves too much considering we’re going into pre-season, but at the same time we’re very competitive.
“So when we say that we’re going to run the race together, it’s probably going to get to the last 100 metres and I’ll try and trip her up so I can finish before her.”
