SAM Walsh’s stunning solo effort has been nominated for the Coates Hire Goal of the Year.
It’s another achievement ticked off for the 19-year-old, who continues to perform as the standout first-year player in the competition.
Walsh’s gather, pirouette and right-footed finish in the first quarter of the clash with West Coast has been acknowledged for Round 20, alongside Adelaide’s Eddie Betts and Fremantle’s Ed Langdon.

It was the highlight in another brilliant performance from the first-year Blue, who collected 31 disposals against the reigning premier as one of his side’s best.
Walsh is the fourth Blue to receive a Goal of the Year nomination in 2019, following on from Mitch McGovern (Round 3), David Cuningham (Round 6) and Patrick Cripps (Round 12).
