MARC Murphy’s professionalism has been one of the key reasons behind him reaching the 250-game milestone, according to Chris Judd.
The two shared eight seasons together at Ikon Park, with Judd passing on the torch to Murphy as captain prior to the 2013 season.
As someone who oversaw a lot of Murphy’s development, Judd said the milestone man “has had an outstanding career” — and that was a direct result of having the right mentality.
“I think he took on an enormous amount of responsibility throughout his career, both as a younger player and as a leader in his challenging time,” Judd said.

“He never complained, he worked as hard as he possibly could and got the best out of himself.
“There’s still plenty of games to come.”
Judd arrived at the Blues just prior to Murphy’s third season, with the Brownlow Medallist wanting to drive standards across the board to a young playing group.

He said Murphy was one of those players who was always aiming to get the best of himself from the outset.
“The main things I tried to instil in the younger players was preparation, lifting the standards across the group and getting young players to understand the professionalism they needed to apply in all areas of life,” he said.
“‘Murph’ was one who was always on board that train, he jumped on really early. It’s one of the reason’s he’s played 250 games and also be able to play them at such a high level.”
