Carlton’s inaugural VFLW Senior Coach Shannon McFerran has decided to step down from the role.
McFerran has coached the side for the past two seasons whilst also juggling her duties as the AFLW Senior Assistant coach: she will now focus solely on her AFLW role for season 2020.
This season in the VFLW competition, McFerran led an all-female coaching group with Kerry Saunders, Brooke Surgeon and Emma Kerry as her assistants. It was a first for the Carlton Football Club.
Carlton General Manager of Women’s Football Ash Brown said the Club was in a great position on the back of McFerran’s hard work.
“What has always shined through is Shan’s passion for coaching and the development of her players as people and footballers,” Brown said.
“I want to take the opportunity to thank Shan for her great work over this period within the VFLW program and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the AFLW program.”
