EARLIER this month, Mark Maclure joined some giants of the game in the ‘Greatest NSW AFL team of all time’.
Joined by the likes of Wayne Carey, Shane Crawford and Lenny Hayes, Maclure was named in the team of teams on Thursday 9 May.
Recruited from East Sydney prior to the 1974 season, Maclure would ultimately go on and enter Carlton’s Hall of Fame — and the numbers say it all.
A premiership player in 1979, 1981 and1982, Maclure played 243 games for Carlton, kicking 327 goals in that time.
A strong centre half forward who was equally as strong in the air as he was with applying pressure, Maclure was named captain in what proved to be his final year in 1986.
The first New South Welshmen to achieve the feat as a triple premiership player, Maclure was named on the bench of the greatest NSW team.
Congratulations, 'Sellers’!
