THE Carlton Football Club would like to express its thanks to Head of Development Shane Watson, who will depart the Club this week.

Watson joined Carlton ahead of the 2016 season as the Club’s forwards coach.

After two seasons in that role, Watson transitioned into the position of defensive development coach which he filled for the last two years.

During that time, Watson also coached the back line for Carlton’s VFL affiliate the Northern Blues.

Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the Club was grateful for Watson’s contribution over the last four seasons.

“The development of our group has been an integral part of the Club’s direction and we would like to thank Shane for his tireless work, especially with the first to fourth-year players,” Lloyd said.

“As well as his great contribution to the football department, Shane was also a terrific person to have around at Ikon Park. 

“We wish Shane and his family all the very best for the future.”
