TALENTED duo Kym Lebois and Harrison Macreadie are due to make their returns to VFL action this weekend.

This will be the first Blues fans have seen of Lebois this year after a hamstring injury interrupted his pre-season.

Director of High Performance Andrew Russell confirmed the young rookie’s conditioning has returned to game-play standard.

“We’ve put him through this vaccination-type training block to try and get him ready to play,” said Russell on Lebois.

“He’s had a month of full high-intensity training and we expect to see him out playing VFL this week, which is exciting for him.”

Macreadie is also likely to run out for the Northern Blues after two weeks on the sidelines with achilles inflammation.

It was a minor setback for the promising youngster who returned earlier in the season following a back injury.

“We expect Macreadie to play, that’s settled down really well,” he said.

“We had the VFL bye, so that helped us but we expect him to play this week.”

Blues fans would have been pleased to see the return of Mitch McGovern and Matthew Kreuzer to senior action against Collingwood.

Having both sat out the match prior against North Melbourne, the key Blues pulled up well following the weekend’s hit-out.

“Mitch McGovern had really good energy during the day, we saw that he brought that to the game and we were really pleased with his output,” he said.

“He settled down well and recovered well and we expect to see him out there against this week.”

It was the same story for star ruckman Matthew Kreuzer, with Russell pleased with the performance of the big man in his return from an adductor injury.

“Kreuzer was tested, he was pushed to the limit by [Brodie] Grundy,” he said.

“He had to play a lot of game time but we’re really pleased with how he’s pulled up and we expect his game condition to really improve over the next couple of weeks.”
