SO who becomes Carlton senior player No.1200?
It’s the question that will be answered when the final team sheet is lodged 90 minutes prior to the 2019 season opener with Richmond on Thursday.
As many as six debutants - Alex Fasolo, Michael Gibbons, Mitch McGovern, Nic Newman, Will Setterfield and Sam Walsh – appear to be in line to follow Carlton’s most recent first-game player 1199 (Tom De Koning) into the Club’s record books, with the 1200th player since the opening round of the League’s 1897 foundation season determined by alphabetical order of surname.

Were all six to play, Fasolo would become Carlton’s 1200th senior player in 123 seasons, followed by Gibbons (1201), then McGovern (1202), Newman (1203), Setterfield (1204) and Walsh (1205).
Fasolo completed his first-hit out for Northern Blues in their drawn contest with Collingwood at Olympic Park last Sunday, while Gibbons, McGovern, Newman, Setterfield and Walsh all got through Monday’s JLT Community Series match with Collingwood at Morwell Recreation Reserve.
Of Carlton’s ton-up players so far, player No.800 Ken Jungwirth’s first senior match also doubled as his last.
Player No.1100 Bryce Gibbs managed the most senior appearances with 231 and is the youngest of the ton-up players to debut at senior level.
