Despite the result which ended the Blues’ season in disappointment, Davey said she “couldn’t be prouder” of her team’s efforts in 2019.
The captain starred for Carlton in their Grand Final loss, collecting 22 disposals and displaying a never-say-die attitude from the first bounce.
Speaking post-match, Davey said the unfortunate end to the year shouldn’t take away from the progress made in 2019.
“As much as it’s disappointing, I’m proud the girls really gave it a crack,” Davey said.
“To go from the wooden spooners last year into a Grand Final, it’s an effort in itself. We worked our backsides off.”

It's been a season to remember. It may not have been the result we wanted today, but we couldn't be prouder of our Game Changers in 2019. #BoundByBlue #AFLWGF pic.twitter.com/ShQp0MncSo
With 11 new players arriving at the Club for AFLW 3.0 to go with a new coach, the improvement over the course of the year was evident for the Navy Blues.
And the captain already can’t wait to see what the playing group can achieve in 2020.
“I’m definitely excited. I’ve always had big faith in this list from the first season, we’re going to continue to get better,” she said.
“We’ve got some youth on this list who are bloody good. I think this list can do great thing, it’s about giving it a bit of time.”
