Two members of Carlton’s leadership group have been named in the AFL’s Round 8 Team of the Week.
Young defender Sam Docherty and midfielder Bryce Gibbs have been recognised for their outstanding performances against Port Adelaide, being named at half-back and on the interchange respectively.
Both players played vital roles in the Blues’ narrow two-point win over the Power on Sunday, helping Kade Simpson celebrate his 250th milestone and Michael Jamison’s 150th game.
Docherty had a career-high 33 disposals, including nine contested possessions and four tackles, while Gibbs had 30 touches, seven tackles and booted a terrific goal from the boundary line.
Gibbs’ exceptional game was also highlighted in this week’s coaches’ votes, with the 27-year-old receiving a perfect score of 10.
