Rookie Ed Curnow has taken out Carlton’s annual time trial around Princes Park today.

One of the Club’s most competitive pre-season exercises, Ed crossed the line in just over 10 minutes, a few metres ahead of previous winner Andrew Walker.

Rookies Tom Bell and Frazer Dale rounded up the top four, followed by Andrew Collins, Kane Lucas, Kade Simpson and Rohan Kerr.

The 3.183km time trial has been run around Princes Park by Carlton players for more than 25 years and is synonymous with the Club’s preseason training program.

Andrew Walker crosses the line in second place.

“It is a pretty tough run for the boys because everyone is keen to prove themselves and see where their fitness is at,” Ed said.

“We only do it once or twice a year so it is good to see how your times compare and if you are in decent shape or need to improve.”

Previous time trial winners include Captain Chris Judd and Craig Bradley, however former player Adrian Gleeson still holds the current course record with a time of 9m 50s.

Tom Bell leads fellow rookie Frazer Dale.

The players returned to Visy Park last week after an extended Christmas break and are back into full training leading up to the NAB Cup next month.

"It is always good to get back into training after taking some time off to refresh,” Ed said.

“Today some of the boys ran PBs (personal bests) which is encouraging, so everyone's come back in good shape, which makes a big difference.”
