LIAM McMahon, Heath Ramshaw and Michael Lewis have re-signed with the Carlton Reserves for 2025.

In addition to the re-signings of Will Hayes, Luke Nelson and Logan Prout a fortnight ago, the trio sees the Blues retain another part of their core group for next season.

McMahon, Carlton’s reigning VFL Best and Fairest winner, had an outstanding season which saw him named in the VFL Team of the Year.

An adaptive player, the 22-year-old can play at both ends of the ground, but it was up forward where he made a key impact for the Blues in 2024.

Showing his talent up forward this season, he placed second in the competition’s goalkicking tally, scoring two or more goals in every game and kicking seven goals in the Blues’ win over Geelong in Round 20.

Arriving at the Blues in 2021, Ramshaw has become a consistent and reliable player, only missing two games this season.

An emerging talent, Ramshaw’s best game came in Round 17 in a big win against Collingwood when he collected 24 disposals, had 11 intercept possessions and kicked a goal.

Making his debut back in 2022, Ramshaw has consistently played a role for the team whether down back or in the midfield, playing 33 out of a possible 36 games in the past two seasons under Luke Power.

Lewis, featuring in 14 matches this season, showcased his defensive abilities effectively handling both tall and small opponents while playing in defence and on the wing.

A team-first player who provides unquestionable effort and commitment each week, Lewis thrived in games against highly fancied opponents, shutting down the likes of eventual Frosty Miller Medalist Billy Gowers (one goal) back in Round 4.

A consistent role player since arriving at the start of 2022, Lewis is closing in on 50 games for the VFL Blues.

VFL Senior Coach Luke Power said he was thrilled that the trio will continue in the Navy Blue.

“Liam, Heath and Michael have shown a great amount of dedication and commitment to their individual skills and the program as a whole and are well respected by the coaches and teammates,” Power said.

“Liam’s determination is first class and an emerging leader for our group: his on-field talent shone this season, rightfully earning him a selection into the VFL Team of the Year and our Best and Fairest award.

“Heath has emerged as someone who is a great asset for us as coaches: his competitiveness both in training and on the weekend sets him up to perform a role for us each and every week.

“Michael is very much the same. In a number of positions he gets his job done for the side, he’s the kind of player his teammates love running out with on game day.

“All three are crucial parts of what we do and what we want to build at IKON Park: we are excited to have them continue in the Navy Blue and cannot wait to see what they achieve in 2025.”
