CARLTON wingman Blake Acres has today signed a two-year contract extension with the Club, keeping him at the Blues until at least the end of 2027.

He adds a further two seasons to his existing deal, which was due to expire at the end of next year.

After playing 120 games for St Kilda and Fremantle, Acres arrived at the Blues in exchange for a future third round pick via the 2022 Trade Period.

Since that moment, Acres has missed just one AFL game, and in that time has endeared himself to the Navy Blue faithful by building a strong reputation as a consistent performer who embraces the big stage.

Reaching his 150th game milestone earlier this year, Acres’ work ethic has continued to be a feature of his game on both sides of the football, ranked second at the Club for disposals while sitting in the top five for goal assists, inside 50s and intercept possessions.

The gut running 28-year-old is regularly praised for his end-to-end ground coverage and willingness to support his teammates right across the field.

Acres became an instant fan favourite for his courageous display in the teams' finals run in 2023, highlighted by his late fourth-quarter goal against Melbourne to book the Blues into a preliminary final.

In his first season at the Blues, Acres placed sixth in John Nicholls Medal voting and was awarded both the Spirit of Carlton and Coaches Award.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said the Club was pleased to reward Acres for his hard work.

“Blake is a talented and reliable player, his ability to have an impact on play at both ends of the ground is a real asset for the side,” Austin said.

“He shows a great amount of composure in high-pressure moments. He knows what's expected of him and he consistently executes his role for the team.

“Embracing roles in the side has become something the playing group prides themselves on and Blake has really led the way in that regard.”
