CARLTON VFLW has welcomed a host of talent for their Round 12 clash with Essendon, including 14 AFLW-listed players for the trip to Windy Hill.
With the 2024 AFLW pre-season officially underway, the Blues are working on giving their AFLW players some extra exposure, whereas the Bombers are wanting to keep within touching distance of the top two on the ladder.
The Blues will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 10-point loss to the Demons last week, in a game where they showed strong signs of cohesion and flowing play across the four quarters.
Over the last few rounds, the Blues have been able to kick goals from set shots and general play, with the focus now shifting to increasing conversions from forward 50 entries.
Looking to get back on the winners' list, the Blues will be bolstered by AFLW-listed talent including Mimi Hill, Darcy Vescio, Brooke Vickers, Keeley Sherar and Maddie Guerin.
Fans will also get their first look at Gab Pound, Abbie McKay and Jess Good for 2024, while AFLW captain Kerryn Peterson will play her first VFLW game in almost six years.
Irish recruit Dayna Finn will also make her VFLW debut as she looks to build ahead of her second season in the Navy Blue.
The Blues have seven VFLW players remaining in the game day squad with Steph Demeo continuing to impress in the backline. She will be surrounded by experience and will take full advantage of that learning opportunity.
Sophia McCarthy and Amy Trindade will remain the key targets up forward, while co-captains Octavia Di Donato and Eliza Wood will bring even more experience to the team.
Emily Hurley was unavailable for selection this week due to injury.
This week's emergencies are Izzy Khoury, Simone Mooney, Layla Prince, and Georgia Tait.
Carlton will travel to Windy Hill to face Essendon on Sunday 9 June, ready for the first bounce at 11:05am (AEST).
