CHLOE Dalton is happy for Carlton to play the dark horse in the lead-up to the 2019 AFLW Grand Final on Sunday.

Dalton will be hoping to recreate the form that saw her finish the preliminary final with two goals and six tackles when Carlton meet the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

“We quite like going in as the underdogs,” Dalton said.

“The Crows have obviously shown themselves to be the dominant team throughout the season.”

The Blues last met Adelaide in Round 2 in a tight contest that saw them fall 13 points short after a stirring comeback from the Crows.

“When we did come up against the Crows early in the season it was a really good match up, but we just fell away a little bit in the third quarter,” she said.

“But I think we’ve shown that we can really match it with them.”

It will be a much-improved Carlton outfit that faces Adelaide on Sunday, with Dalton hopeful their best is yet to come.

“We thought we were looking good throughout pre-season but got to round one and probably didn’t execute as well as we planned,” she said.

“Each week [improvement] has been our biggest goal, ‘Harf’ [coach Daniel Harford] has said to us to just be better than we were the day before.”

The occasion is not lost on Dalton, who is relishing in the excitement of fans as it draws closer to their first AFLW Grand Final appearance.

The Olympic gold medallist is hopeful of adding another accolade this Sunday in the 2019 decider.

“It’s a real honour to be a part of this incredible club and to see the fans and the cheersquad so excited about what we’ve done and what we’ve achieved so far,” said Dalton.

Carlton will face the Crows in the AFLW Grand Final at Adelaide Oval this Sunday at 1pm (AEDT).
