NEWLY crowned Coleman Medallist and Carlton forward Charlie Curnow has been named in the 2023 All-Australian team.

Curnow has earned his second All-Australian honour on the back of a 78-goal season which saw him also awarded the Coleman Medal.

Curnow had another incredible season, where he was one of only two players to play all 23 games of the home-and-away fixture for the Club.

In career-best form, Curnow has been an integral part of the Carlton forward line, leading the competition in contested marks and is second for marks inside 50.

In a testament to his selflessness nature to help his teammates, he is also ranked second in the AFL for score involvements.

He made his mark on the season when he kicked a career-high 10 goals in Round 19 against West Coast, becoming the first Carlton player to do so since Stephen Kernahan’s 10-goal haul against Footscray in 1995.

Curnow is the second Coleman Medallist from Carlton in three years after claiming the award last year and teammate Harry McKay claiming the award in 2021. Curnow becomes the first player in history to win back-to-back Coleman Medals for the Carlton Football Club.

Earlier this week, Curnow’s teammates Carlton captain Patrick Cripps and co-vice captain Jacob Weitering were named in the 44-man All-Australian squad.

Carlton AFL Senior Coach Michael Voss says the whole Club is very proud of Curnow’s All-Australian recognition.

“Charlie has had a sensational season, and it is so pleasing to see him selected in the All-Australian team,” Voss said.

As a coach, I think it is really important for us as a club to celebrate these milestones and achievements. His consistency and durability combined with his high level of performance has been incredible to watch, and makes being recognised with two awards tonight all the more deserving.

“His work this year as a teammate has been significant. His support and guidance, both on and off the field, to the forward group has been impressive to witness, especially as we head into finals.”
