VICTORIA put on a masterclass at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night, defeating the Allies by 97 points in the first-ever AFLW State of Origin match.

Six Blues featured in the historic clash, with inaugural Game Changers Brianna Davey, Lauren Arnell, Alison Downie and Sarah Hosking saluting in the Big V.

They were joined by fellow Victorian and new Blue Nicola Stevens, while Tayla Harris, who crossed to Carlton from Brisbane in the 2017 trade period, spearheaded the Allies' forward line.

Darcy Vescio and Danielle Hardiman, who were originally selected for Victoria, missed the match through injury but were replaced by Hosking and Arnell.

Here's a breakdown of how each Carlton player performed:

BRIANNA DAVEY

Stats: 12 kicks, 11 handballs, 6 marks, 4 tackles

Davey was Carlton's best, patrolling Victoria's defence with aplomb. She was repeatedly called into action in a frenetic opening term but stood firm, collecting nine disposals and repelling numerous Allies attacks. Davey had stints in midfield and forward in the second half, but looked composed and polished no matter where she won the footy.

ALISON DOWNIE

Stats: 3 kicks, 9 handballs, 3 marks, 18 hitouts

Downie had 22 fewer hitouts than counterpart Emma King, but was more influential around the ground. Her ability to cover precious territory saw her take two intercept marks in defence, while she drifted forward in the final term to provide a goal assist.

TAYLA HARRIS

Stats: 7 kicks, 2 marks, 1 goal

Harris made the most of limited opportunities, kicking a major and presenting well for the Allies. Carlton's star off-season recruit had the Blues faithful worried after twisting her knee in the opening term, but she returned in the second quarter to finish the game and appeared uninhibited.

LAUREN ARNELL

Stats: 11 kicks, 3 handballs, 5 marks, 4 tackles

Arnell was quiet in the first term but a steady performer in the Victoria midfield thereafter. Her busy second term in particular helped Victoria stamp its authority in the midfield and kick clear of the Allies.

SARAH HOSKING

Stats: 4 kicks, 2 marks, 6 tackles

While she didn't find much of the footy, Hosking's pressure and intensity were outstanding. The aggressive midfielder laid six tackles - second highest for Victoria behind Kara Donnellan (seven).

NICOLA STEVENS

Stats: 5 kicks, 4 handballs, 2 marks, 3 tackles

Stevens, who crossed to Carlton from Collingwood in the off-season, showed glimpses of why she was selected in the 2017 AFLW Virgin Australia All Australian Team. The classy left-footer wasn't a prolific ball winner but made every possession count, with her elite kicking a standout.
