CARLTON'S inaugural VFLW team will take to the field for the first time this weekend, as they kick off the competition against the Southern Saints at SkyBus Stadium (Frankston Oval).
Coinciding with the Northern Blues’ Round 5 match against Frankston, Saturday will play host to a double header: the first of eight for the VFL and VFLW Blues in 2018.
The women’s match commences at 11:15am, before the men take to the field at 2:10pm.
The revamped VFLW competition will see the Blues as one of 10 new teams this season as women’s football continues to grow.
Collingwood, Essendon, Hawthorn, Melbourne (Casey Demons), St Kilda (Southern Saints), Richmond and the Western Bulldogs as well as the Northern Territory and Williamstown will also field new teams this season.
Entry is free for the VFLW game up until half-time.
