THE Carlton Football Club has acquiring young forward Tahlia Read from Fremantle as part of the AFLW Sign and Trade Period.
Read lands at IKON Park as part of a player swap, that sees Serena Gibbs make the move to Western Australia after playing six games for the Club since 2021.
A Victorian, Read won the Calder Cannons best and fairest last year in the NAB League, averaging nearly 18 disposals a game before being drafted to the Dockers.
The 19-year-old is dangerous at ground level with a strong marking ability, strengths that Blues Head of Football Brad Lloyd believe can add to the squad.
“We’re pleased to have Tahlia join our club, and look forward to giving her an opportunity to grow here at Carlton,” Lloyd said.
“What stood out to us about Tahlia was her hunger and drive to get the best out of herself in a high-performance environment. We think she will be a welcome addition to our midfield and forward line.
“We wish Serena all the best as well with the next stage of her career and thank her for her time with the group over the last three years.”
