THE Carlton Football Club can confirm that Lucy McEvoy will depart the Club through the AFLW Priority Signing Period (PSP).
McEvoy’s move comes after new rules were announced last week, allowing the four recent AFLW expansion sides to recruit established players, who have played three seasons or more, without the need to facilitate a trade.
McEvoy played 33 games in four seasons for the Blues after being selected with pick No.2 in the 2019 NAB AFLW Draft.
Carlton Head of Football Brad Lloyd said the Club was disappointed to lose McEvoy under such circumstances.
“Lucy was a valuable member of our playing group so clearly we are disappointed to lose her,” Lloyd said.
“That being said, we understand the current environment we are operating in, which every established club in the competition is having to navigate.
“Our club is being very process driven in regard to what we want to establish with our AFLW program over the coming months: we know that will come with its challenges, but we are determined to move forward as a program, in order to put us in a position to launch into this next phase.”
The AFLW List Committee will determine any relevant compensation for clubs at the conclusion of the PSP.
Compensation will include draft picks to be used in the AFLW Draft leading into the 2024 AFLW competition. Any compensation will not be permitted to be traded in the Sign and Trade Period.
