A WHIRLWIND 10 rounds have come and gone and so the predictions begin, with Carlton’s AFLW Best and Fairest awards set to take place tonight.

It was a year of breakout performances, as household names were joined by fresh young talent.

Abbie McKay made her presence felt in the midfield in the best season of her career to date, alongside midfield partner Mimi Hill who only continued her outstanding comeback year.

The pair were supported by All-Australian ruck Breann Moody, who was again outstanding, and were joined in the middle of the ground by skipper Kerryn Peterson, who may have lined up in a different position but played with the same leadership and intensity that Carlton fans have come to know and love.

Up forward, Keeley Skepper put together a campaign which belied her years, while Lucy McEvoy and Mua Laloifi marshalled the defence, putting their bodies on the line each and every week.

So, who takes home the highest honour?

The Game Changers will be celebrated with the following awards:

Best and Fairest Award:

The award reserved for the best-and-fairest player over the course of the season is the Club’s highest individual honour.

Throughout the season, the Senior Coach, along with three assistants, vote for as many players as they feel warrant a vote for each game on the following scale:

4 votes – outstanding performance

3 votes – excellent performance

2 votes – above expectation performance

1 vote – expected performance (trademark game)

A player can receive a maximum of four votes from four coaches, giving a maximum of 16 possible votes each round.

Rookie of the Year Award:

The best first-year player is awarded to the individual that has had the biggest impact during their first season.

As voted by the coaching group, this player will have influenced performance and standards both on and off the field.

Coaches’ Award:

Voted by the Senior Coach in conjunction with the entire coaching group, the Coaches’ Award is presented to the player that has the greatest impact on team performance and has also had a positive influence on those around them throughout the course of the season.

Most Valuable Bluebagger Award:

The Most Valuable Bluebagger award is voted by the players and awarded to the player who lives the club and team values most consistently throughout the season.

The season seven AFLW Best and Fairest, proudly presented by Big Ant, will take place on Friday 25 November.
