CARLTON midfielder Lily Goss will not be available for the remainder of AFLW season seven after suffering a dislocated shoulder.

Goss sustained the injury in the first quarter of the game against Greater Western Sydney and did not return after leaving the ground.

Scans have since confirmed surgery would be required as the best course for her long-term recovery.

The 22-year-old made her debut in Round 3 and has played four senior games for the Blues this season after being selected from the Club’s VFLW side in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.

Carlton General Manager of Women’s Football Brett Munro said Goss had shown great signs in her short time with the Club.

“Lily was already starting to emerge as a young talent to watch, so it’s disappointing that her debut season has come to a premature end,” Munro said.

“She will have the full support of the program as we work together through her rehab and ensure she is ready to hit the ground running in 2023.

“We’ve had a difficult run this season with injury, but the group is committed to staying connected and working together as we navigate our way through this.

“Although we never like to see injuries, it gives other players opportunities to fill those positions and we know we have talent who are hungry and waiting for that chance.

“In more positive news, Amelia Velardo will be available for selection this week after returning from concussion protocols.”
