BLAKE Acres now wears Navy Blue.

The experienced wingman has landed at IKON Park on day two of the 2022 Continental Tyres Trade Period.

Carlton today completed a trade with Fremantle for Acres in exchange for a future third-round selection.

Acres arrives with 120 AFL games under his belt with both the Dockers and St Kilda – already placing him inside the top 10 most experienced players on the Blues’ list.

Strong around the ball and capable of winning possession both on the inside and outside, the 26-year-old is a valuable addition with his experience and quality in the wing position.

Acres entered the AFL in the same fashion as his now skipper and fellow West Australian Patrick Cripps – a first-round selection in the 2013 NAB AFL Draft.

After six seasons and 75 games with St Kilda, Acres returned to the West with the Dockers.

His 2022 campaign saw him produce a career-best year, averaging over 20 disposals as he made the wing position his own to help propel Fremantle into the finals.

That form translated into September, with Acres among the Dockers’ best in both the elimination final and semi final, recording 24 and 27 disposals respectively.

Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said the Club had targeted Acres as part of its list strategy.

“Blake brings valuable experience to our side, particularly in an area of the ground we think can help us take the next step,” Austin said.

“His ability to perform in the most high-pressure games this year was a real strength of his, and he adds to the demographic of players we are looking to build together as they approach the central phase of their careers.

“We’re rapt to welcome Blake to the Blues and can’t wait to see him get to work over the summer.”
