WITH both sides coming off disappointing last-start losses, renewed energy and hunger for the four points will be on display when Carlton embarks on its second interstate trip of the season to take on GWS at Henson Park.
The Blues will be looking to tip the ledger in their favour after recording one win, two draws and two losses for their season seven campaign thus far. Their record leaves them sitting just outside the eight but still in touch, with a win vital to keep their finals chances alive.
What to watch:
The Blues’ trip to Sydney will be marked by Gab Pound’s 50th game at AFLW level, with the inaugural Game Changer set to become the fifth Carlton AFLW player to reach the milestone.
After the All-Australian defender spent last week’s clash up forward, her position in the line-up this week will be one to keep an eye on.
Mua Laloifi will look to continue her red-hot start to the season after polling AFLCA votes for two consecutive weeks and being selected in the womens.afl Team of the Week in three of the opening five rounds.

The defender last week broke a Carlton AFLW record, recording a substantial 14 intercepts in her 20-disposal performance.
Mimi Hill was another shining light for the Blues, amassing a career-high 33 disposals.
Blues fans will be keeping a keen eye on team selection, with Darcy Vescio (finger) and Paige Trudgeon (concussion) both tests to return to Carlton’s Round 6 side.
An eye on the opposition:
The Giants will no doubt be eager to bounce back from their Round 5 clash, falling to reigning premiers the Adelaide Crows by 96 points.
Tarni Evans could hold her head high in defence, recording 22 disposals (including eight intercepts) along with 489 metres gained, while Alicia Eva and Alyce Parker were formidable in the middle, with the former notching her 50th game at AFLW level in the Round 5 clash.
While GWS has performed in patches, with a young list and growing injury concerns, it has managed just the one win for the season so far, against cross-town rival Sydney.
Last time we met:
The Blues last met the Giants in Round 8 of season six, taking home the four points at Manuka Oval in an 18-point victory.
It was a particularly special day for the Game Changers, as Vescio became the first AFLW player to record 50 career goals with their two-goal haul on the day.
At the other end of the ground, Pound was instrumental with 21 disposals and 10 intercepts to be named the Blues’ best.
Historically, the Blues have the wood over the Giants, winning all five of their encounters thus far: they'll look to keep that streak alive come Saturday.
